Small business trying to save money on design? That’s risky!
Businesses are always trying to save costs. It makes cents. AI seems like it can help with that by quickly generating decent images or writing copy for you. But that’s shaky ground. It’s motel-quality “art.” Most AI content is not up to a publishable standard for what I would deliver to my clients and the close stuff could still use help:
- Remove an extra limb or digit π§ββοΈ
- Lock down that typography π
- Make the visual hierarchy feel right π
- Avoid stealing a cherished art style π¦ΈββοΈ
Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
But you’re a business, not a designer, so how can you know?

The barrier for “art” that can be easily generated has been lowered, and that is why you still need a designer to stand out from other AI images clogging news feeds. More people are making motel-quality “art” and that means you need to find a way to stand out.
